A date has not been set in stone for Aaron Sanchez’s return, but he is bound to return at some point. The question is: Will he stay in the rotation? Sanchez was on the DL with a blister on his finger twice this season and every time he came back, the blister was reaggravated.
Putting him back in the rotation immediately could result in another DL stint so when he gets activated off the DL this time, I believe that he should be put in the bullpen. There, he can pitch an inning at a time until his finger gets used to pitching again and he can ease into pitching instead of being thrown into the fire.
Besides, Joe Biagini is dealing so there is no rush to get Aaron Sanchez back onto the mound. It’s better for him to fully recover rather than gamble every fifth day.
