14 teams are gone. 2 remain.
This year’s playoffs have been nothing short of amazing. Ottawa fought tooth and nail to make it to the Western Conference Finals. Pittsburgh is so close to back to back Cups, and PK Subban is in the Stanley Cup Finals less than a year after getting traded.
Here are my predictions for the Stanley Cup Finals.
Nashville Predators vs. Pittsburgh Penguins
WINNER: NASHVILLE IN 6
A lot of people are writing off the Predators because of the center matchups, but don’t forget, Nashville managed to contain the Anaheim Ducks, a team with Getzlaf, Kesler, and Rackell. Sweeping the Blackhawks who have Toews, Anisimov, and Kruger isn’t the easiest job in the universe either. Crosby, Malkin, and Bonino are tough, but Nashville has shown that they’re up for the challenge. Besides, they have the best defensive corps in the league, and Pekka Rinne is playing the best hockey of his entire lifetime.
Pittsburgh had to fight with every last reserve of energy to get to the finals. Nashville still has not played a series to 7 games. They are going to be well-rested and ready for game one, whereas the Penguins might be nursing some bruises from the Ottawa series.
This is going to be a win-win series if you do not have a dog in this fight. You can either see Nashville win their first ever Stanley Cup, or you can see a back-to-back Stanley Cup victory since Detroit in 1996-97 and 1997-98. This will be a fantastic Stanley Cup final.
