The Los Angeles Kings have traded goalie Ben Bishop to the Dallas Stars for a fourth-round pick in the 2017 NHL draft. This is fantastic news for Dallas because they have a great team, they just lack the adequate goaltending to become a playoff contender.
Ben Bishop is thirty years old with a SV% of .921 with Tampa Bay. At 6″7, he is a big guy and he uses his size to his advantage when he’s in net. His performance has decreased since the 2015-2016 season, going from a .926 SV% to a .911 with Tampa Bay, and .900 with the Kings. Let’s be real here. Any change from Lehtonen and Niemi is a welcome change.
The Dallas Stars are a brand new team. They didn’t have a good season last year, but they have the offence with Seguin, Benn, and Spezza. Solid defence with Klingberg, Lindell, and Hamhuis. They lacked a solid goaltender but now they have one in Ben Bishop. A player with a proven track record of success.
